Naltrexone HCl Capsule (Each)
Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) refers to the use of naltrexone at significantly lower doses than what is typically prescribed for opioid or alcohol dependence. At doses ranging from 0.5 mg to 4.5 mg, LDN is used off-label to help manage various chronic conditions such as autoimmune diseases, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, and inflammatory disorders. It is believed to support immune system balance and reduce inflammation, offering potential benefits in conditions where the immune system is overactive or dysregulated.
Mechanisms of Action
This temporary blockade is thought to help modulate immune function, reduce inflammation, and improve symptoms in autoimmune and chronic pain conditions. LDN may also influence glial cells in the central nervous system, which are involved in the regulation of pain and inflammation.
Contraindications & Precautions
Patients should inform their healthcare provider of all medications they are taking to avoid potential interactions, particularly with immunosuppressants or CNS-active drugs.
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Therefore, it should only be used if the potential benefits clearly outweigh the risks, and under close medical supervision. Pregnant or nursing individuals should discuss the risks and benefits thoroughly with their healthcare provider before starting LDN therapy.
