Modafinil Tablet (Each) †

100 mg200 mg

† commercial product

Modafinil Tablets are prescription medications used to promote wakefulness in individuals with excessive sleepiness caused by conditions such as narcolepsy, obstructive sleep apnea, and shift work sleep disorder. They help improve alertness, concentration, and reduce daytime fatigue, supporting better daily functioning.

The exact mechanism of modafinil is not fully understood, but it is believed to work by altering neurotransmitters in the brain, including dopamine, norepinephrine, and histamine. Modafinil enhances wakefulness by stimulating certain areas of the brain responsible for alertness and attention, without the strong stimulant effects seen with other drugs

Contraindications & Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of heart problems, high blood pressure, liver or kidney disease, and psychiatric disorders such as anxiety, depression, or psychosis. It should not be used to treat general fatigue or as a substitute for adequate sleep.

Adverse Reactions / Side Effects
Less frequently, serious skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome or allergic reactions may occur. Patients should seek immediate medical attention if they experience rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing.

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
There is limited data on the safety of modafinil during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Therefore, it should be used during these periods only if the potential benefits outweigh the risks and under strict medical supervision. Alternative treatments with better-established safety profiles are often preferred
